Cargo ReWork with Joseph Spring Ready-To-Wear 2012 and Getting Down the Basics with Brandy Melville

Since working for these last two televised productions in Hawaii, I’ve noticed a common theme and look for the female characters seems constipated with a bevy of boring and extremely unflattering cargo skinnies. Cargo skinnies seem like an oxymoron, tapered tight fitting clothing while adding more fabric in areas that women don’t want extra fabric or volume seems like an obvious no. If it is not apparent, I’m not much of a fan when it comes to women’s cargo pants but Joseph’s Spring Ready-To-Wear 2012 line holds the answer to both sexy, sophisticated and functional women’s utilitarian look and styling. I’m very fond of the modern, sporty silhouettes in quality or silky fabric variations.

I like how this whole collection revolves around stone, khaki, lemon yellow and olive as the main colors. This collection is the perfect answer to the daily and sometimes hourly conundrums that Wardrobe and Costume Departments seem so apt to address. We love our basics and especially multiples and the dying thereof. I really enjoyed the styling of this collection. I like the high-low layering lengths that somehow pull slouchy back to sexy. Not a big of fan of the excessive use of the Gilligan’s Island bucket hat though. On the topic of great neutral basics, I’ve recently had the chance to stop in Ala Moana’s Brandy Melville to pick up some get pieces that blend American Apparel basics with Urban Outfitters fit and style for Forever 21 prices. I like the store for other reasons including mostly the quality you get for the beyond reasonable price point. The brand is known for their soft fabrics and loose fitting clothes, making the pieces perfect for layering and is an Italian owned and operated cult favorite amongst the bloggers, fashionistas and lookbook lovers as well.
The best part of Brandy Melville’s selection is the extreme possibilities of color choice and “one size fits all(most)” makes it a great option for multiples and color dye jobs on a production.
